Privacy Policy

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Salary.io ("Salary.io", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and shares personal data when you visit our website, fill in our forms, book a demo, or otherwise interact with us. We are committed to handling your data transparently and in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and other applicable privacy laws.

Who we are

Salary.io operates a global contractor payments platform that helps companies onboard, pay and stay compliant with contractors worldwide. For any privacy-related question or request, contact our team at privacy@salary.io.

What data we collect

  • Form submissions. When you contact us, request information, or sign up for updates, we collect your name, work email, company name, and the content of your message.
  • Demo bookings. When you book a demo, our scheduling provider Cal.com collects your name, email, the selected time slot and any details you choose to share.
  • Analytics and cookies. We use cookies and similar technologies to understand how visitors use our site and to improve it. See our Cookie Policy for details and to manage your preferences.
  • Technical data. Server logs may record IP address, browser type, referring page and timestamps for security and operational purposes.

Why we process your data

We process personal data to respond to your inquiries, schedule and run product demos, send you information you have requested, improve our website and services, secure our platform against abuse, and comply with our legal obligations.

Lawful bases under GDPR

  • Consent — for non-essential cookies, marketing emails, and any other processing where you have opted in. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interest — to respond to inbound requests, run our business, improve our products, and keep our site secure, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Contract — to take steps at your request before entering into an agreement (for example, preparing a proposal after a demo).
  • Legal obligation — to comply with tax, accounting and other regulatory requirements.

Third-party processors

We work with carefully selected service providers that process personal data on our behalf, under contractual data-protection terms:
  • Cal.com — demo scheduling and calendar management.
  • Google — form storage, productivity tools and business analytics.
  • Slack — internal notifications when you contact us, so the right team can reply quickly.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

International data transfers

Salary.io operates internationally, and some of our processors are located outside the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom. When we transfer personal data abroad, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent mechanisms, so your data continues to benefit from a comparable level of protection.

Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, or for as long as required to meet our legal, accounting or reporting obligations. Inquiry and demo records are typically retained for up to 24 months after our last interaction, after which they are deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect and to opt out of any sale or sharing (Salary.io does not sell personal information). To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@salary.io. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies. Full details — and the controls to opt in or out of non-essential categories — are available on our Cookie Policy page.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or through our website.
